Take a trip around the world with seven weeks of Peacemas.

St. Augustine, Fla. — Among the other exiting holiday festivities taking place in the Nation’s Oldest city this December, locals and visitors alike will have a chance to meet local author Shannon O’Neil at Wolf’s Head Books on Saturday, December 12. Fans can pick up a copy of O’Neil’s debut novel, I’ll Be Home for Peacemas and have it personally autographed between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the store on north San Marco Avenue.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am,” said O’Neil. “It is the simple dream of every writer to share their work with others, and this event will give me that opportunity. I’ve had so much love and support from the community and it just continues to get even better.”
O’Neil first premiered her novel in December of 2008 under the title Ancient City Christmas. After a very exclusive short run, O’Neil pulled the novel to re-edit it, add a chapter, and include a preview of the book’s sequel due out in the spring of 2010.
“It needed a little polishing,” said O’Neil. “It’s the same story and the same cast of colorful characters, just with a few improvements.”
I’ll Be Home for Peacemas details the hilarious journey of Bailey Hamilton as she returns to her hometown of St. Augustine, Florida, for the holidays. Bailey’s enormous family nearly drives her to the brink of insanity, but memories of the Hamilton’s tragic past manage to keep the family together.
“It’s a great read,” said St. Augustine resident Toni Huffman. “The setting in St. Augustine is just perfect for the eclectic cast of characters who come together for the holidays. But even though it takes place around the holidays, at its core, this book is really about family.”
The novel is also available through most online booksellers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books-A-Million.

To promote her holiday novel, author Shannon O’Neil is having a special promotional event on her blog.

St. Augustine, Fla. – It’s in the air—the slight chill, the smell of home cooking and the sound of swaying palm fronds in the breeze. Peacemas has arrived and with it comes a new marketing campaign from author Shannon O’Neil for her novel I’ll Be Home for Peacemas. In promoting her humorous tale of a complicated family’s Christmases past and present, O’Neil has decided to spend seven weeks on her blog celebrating the title holiday invented by one of her characters.

“If people are confused by the title or the meaning of Peacemas, I think by the end of the seven weeks everything will be cleared up,” said O’Neil. “It’s a simple combination of traditions from other religious celebrations that’s just meant to bring people together to celebrate what makes us all the same and yet unique in our own ways.”

During each week of the celebration, O’Neil plans to follow Peacemas tradition by posting information about one of the seven continents that make up our world including important facts and links to charities that support important causes in each area. While indulging in the holiday’s finer points, O’Neil will also be giving away eBook and paperback copies of her title to readers on her blog and Facebook.

“I love sharing the story of Bailey and her family so I’m excited to expand the book’s reach with some new social media efforts this year,” said O’Neil.
